A few weeks ago I had a meeting with Clear Channel about shooting an event for them…I got it! There are multiple bands playing the event, so I’m not sure who I’m shooting yet, but I’m stoked! One of my favorite bands, Theory of A Deadman, will be there…that’s who I said I’d prefer, but whatever…I got it!!!
This is one of my favorite Emerson Hart videos that I’ve found. He’s covering Tom Petty’s Breakdown at the Handlebar in SC. Great banter between he and his keyboardist, Dave about the Muppets. Thanks again to JrzyGryl for another great vid!
To know me, is to know my love for the University of Michigan. I’m a die hard fan that grew up just down the highway from the University of Kansas. No one ever understood my fandom of the Wolverines and I never wanted to understand being a Jayhawker. Eh.
Well, I admit I secretly wanted KU to beat VT in the bowl games this year. Not because I am a native Kansan, but more because I like seeing underdogs win…and they did! I spent the next week being secretly happy.
Now, since Michigan may never see another NCAA tourney while I’m alive, I find an underdog and cheer for them. This year was obviously Davidson. But last nigh KU knocked them out and it’s now KU headed to the Final Four to play who? North Carolina. March Madness couldn’t be sweeter. In my disdain for KU, I’ve loathed Roy Williams more. I felt for Paul Pierce and others when Roy left and went back to his alma mater. While, it was only natural that he left KU for UNC, most Kansans viewed it as an act of betrayal. When UNC won their title, we were humiliated after all of our failed attempts.
I recently visited Chapel Hill and went to this great little Mexican diner over by Cat’s Cradle . I was in line waiting to put in my order when I saw a photo of Coach Williams with one of the employees. I was instantly irritated. Why? I HATE KU! But there are times when native pride kicks in and you just can’t help it.
That is happening now. I’ve spent 30 years hating everything that is KU. I’ve laughed at their short comings, made fun of the mascot and claimed to never publicly root for them. That was until now. ROCK CHALK JAYHAWK! Whatever the hell that means! It’s a one game only fandom, but for this one game, I am solidly on board! GO KU!!!!!!
Another video from Emerson’s Tonic days. Preforming Head On Straight (I just got that cd in the mail yesterday!) on the Late Late Show with Craig Kilborne.
I do want to just say; I have learned through this that Emerson Hart has some of the best fans around. Thanks to everyone who’s either commented or sent me an email just to say hi. Hopefully someday we’ll all get to meet up…at an Emerson Hart show, of course.
What? Someone other than Emerson Hart? Are you kidding me? Seriously, I really do like other artists…and yes, besides Carbon Leaf too.
Anyway, my friend Amy sent me this video. It’s of Jason Isbell (of Drive-By Truckers fame) at Stubb’s in Austin. The song is called “Dress Blues“. The lyrics of the song are so strong and profound; just amazing. I had the chance to see Jason about a month ago with Will Hoge and I am regretting passing that up. Thankfully he’s coming to Richmond soon; not going to miss him this time.
This Emerson Hart video of the day was picked by my husband. Here’s Emerson covering Jim Croce’s classic Operator @ Mercury Lounge in NYC. Video is shot by njotiban.
While the director’s away, the kids will play. While our director is in PA helping Obama, a couple of us are enjoying a nice cold Sparks. I think we’re off to get more of something soon. Drunk day….and now to turn on some Tonic!
UPDATE
Quotes heard around the office:
If you can’t fit it your mouth, don’t chew it.
Owe. Did you hear that? That was my ankle.
I don’t think I need anymore…but I will.
Have you had you’re Joose today?
I’m fuckin’ wasted.
My boobs look great today!
I wish this video wasn’t so dark, but here’s Emerson Hart preforming Tonic’s Count On Me. The video is was taken by njotiban at Sonar in Baltimore, MD.
Great live video of Emerson Hart back in his Tonic days preforming If You Could Only See. Starts off with a slideshow and goes into a live performance by the band.
Non-musical Emerson video today. This is Emerson talking about sobriety and such recently in Jammin’ Java. Funny video; really shows his personality. Also came across a video of Pat McGee covering If You’re Gonna Leave. I’ve became more of a PMB fan over the past year and since Pat does a nice job with it, I thought I would share.
