Long time, no talk

Not sure anyone but the spammers still visit the site, but oh well. Going to try and start it back up. No more politics here though, created a different blog for that.

Anyway, since we last chatted, I FINALLY met Emerson Hart…twice! The first time was by sheer luck. I checked my email that morning and it so happened Tonic was playing a show in town that day. Was able to get a photo pass the very last minute and when I chickened out on going up to him, I paid my son $5 to bring him over. He was absolutely fantastic. The second time was just a couple of weeks ago in Raleigh. Confessed to him about what I had been doing on this site (which he knew about) and he loved it. Adore him.

Let’s see…what else. Oh, I am now unemployed. Long story I’d rather not get into. But I’ve got to take the summer off with Eli and just hang out. Hoping to go back to work in October. Turned 32 yesterday, but didn’t do anything special. Oh, and I’m having gastric bypass on the 27th. Yep. Big changes.

Anyway, that’s all for now. I promise to check in more regularly!

Also going to be on The Rock Boat X in January! YAY! Been active with photography. Finally selling some prints and charging for fashion sessions.

I got it!

A few weeks ago I had a meeting with Clear Channel about shooting an event for them…I got it! There are multiple bands playing the event, so I’m not sure who I’m shooting yet, but I’m stoked! One of my favorite bands, Theory of A Deadman, will be there…that’s who I said I’d prefer, but whatever…I got it!!!

Work Update

To answer every-one’s question, yes. The Saint Bernard excuse was real. One of my employees called in Tuesday and said she was “ran over by a Saint Bernard”. When asked to elaborate she said she had been at the dog park and that when she was tending to her dog and St. Bernard hit her in the knee and she was too sore to come in. Strange, but true!

About the employee that I didn’t want rehired, well she got rehired. She is going to be working from home (shouldn’t that be be a privilege?) and here’s the real kicker; he (our director) still hasn’t told me! I was told by another employee that use to be friends with the problem one. Oh well, she’s not in my office and soon our director will again see why she was let go. Hopefully.

Anyway, my search for employment continues.  I sent my resume to an entertainment company here in Richmond and I posted it on the major job search sites. Again,  hopefully.

Did here back from a couple of bands today about doing photography at their shows. Looks like I will be shoot Grace Potter and The Nocturnals and The Anti-Flag show featuring The Street Dogs. YAY! I love The Street Dogs. Also getting a little more access to one of my favorite bands in May…wonder who that could be?!?! hmmmm

Carbon Leaf @ Cat’s Cradle in Carrboro, N.C.

Took a little trip with friends Tali and Elmo to see my favorite band, Carbon Leaf. Met some nice people who will hopefully make it up for the Stephen Kellogg show and had a great time. The opening band, Luego, yeah…they weren’t that good. Oh well, not all opening acts can be Jon McLaughlin.

Here are some pictures from the show, the rest are here.

Super Bowl Sunday Hodgepodge

It’s finally Super Bowl Sunday! Anyone who knows me knows that I am an insane Patriots fan. I’ve been with them for 16 years and these past 7 have been amazing. But, I must admit, I have a bad feeling about today. Our last (only) three Super Bowl wins have been by a whopping 3 points each and this time there is no #4. That being said, we still have #12, but I think if we win, it’s Wes Welker that has to have a huge game.

Welker has been a wonderful surprise this season. All Patriots fans were excited (or worried) about the addition of Randy Moss. Moss did happen to break the TD record this year, but it was Wes Welker than won the hearts and minds of the Patriots faithful. He really does remind me of Troy Brown, and coming from me, that’s the biggest compliment a player can receive.

Anyway, back to todays game. Shit…I hate to say this 31-35…Giants. Fuck. Please God, let me be wrong.

“…this was a train wreck that was not intended. No Child Left Behind was supported by George Bush and Senator Ted Kennedy and everybody in between. Why? Because they didn’t talk to enough teachers before they did that.” - Bill “what the fuck am I ranting about” Clinton (2/1/08)

Huh? “..and everybody in between”? Hello dumbass! That would mean your wife as well! I understand that Bill is sore about not getting a REAL Kennedy endorsement (or maybe it IS a shadow campaign), but to attack Uncle Ted is ridiculous. Not to even mention that your wife voted for it as well.

Another political rant…The National Organization for Women has spoken out against Senator Ted Kennedy’s endorsement and a photo from the State of the Union, basically calling both he and Obama sexist. I a disgusted by this…that’s all I’m going to say on this…I’m just disgusted.

Took some photos yesterday. They are supposed to be portrait like shots of my son and hubby. Valuable lesson learned. Do not always set your aperture at 2.8! Sometimes a blurred background is REALLY hard on the eyes! Yeah, lesson learned. If anything is able to salvaged, I will post it here.

Speaking of photography, looks like I’m going to be purchasing a new Canon 40D very soon…hopefully by the next Carbon Leaf show on the 16th. YAY! Unless I can find a used 5D that’s in good shape for the same price as a new 40D, then I will do that. But I did go play with a 40D yesterday at Best Buy and I fell in love with it. Love the feel, the screen, the menu…yes, camera talk is orgasmic to me!

Urban Beauty

Went out to a part of the city I hadn’t been to before. Lots of amazing old factories being turned into lofts and offices. Quite beautiful. Anyway, here are three pictures from the outing. Feedback would be great!

Let’s just say I was sick…

Although yesterday wasn’t terrible, it wasn’t good either. That tire issues? Yeah, it started leaking badly again yesterday morning. I made it to work and my husband came at lunch to take it to get it replaced. Phew! At least that’s done.

I was supposed to go see VACO last night and take pics, but I just couldn’t. It’s easier to say I was sick, but truth be known I was a useless emotional mess. I did have a headache and so I am going to put an unfair amount of the blame on that, but truly, I wasn’t anyone that needed to be out in public last night.

I may head out today or tomorrow and take some industrial/urban decay photos. My husband knows a spot he wants me to check out close to hear. That should help clear my mind.

Anyway, till then, here are some photos I did this summer from Petersburg, Virginia. It’s an old train station and random buildings around Old Towne.

I’m Back

So after suggesting to my husband the he create a political blog (and he did), I got to thinking “why am I no longer blogging?”

The answer is simple…I’m lazy. I have a lot to say and bitch that I have no where to say it. I tend to overlook that I own three domains. Granted, one is my photography portfolio and the other is a music magazine. But, when you do the math, that leaves me with one free domain…so, here I am, back to blogging.

What does that mean for all of you (or maybe just me, if I am the only reader of my words)? Well, that means a lot of bad punctuations, run on sentences, sentence fragments, typos and wondering ADD thoughts. Despite all that, hopefully I will be able to get my point across and find some like minds to have a conversation with.

Be warned though. I am a very political person and I consider myself to be liberal. I am not opposed to the other point of view though. I pride myself at being open-minded and tolerant of other point of view.

Also, I’m not a religious person. I don’t understand religion and frankly have no desire too. I think most of the higher-up’s in faith are hypocritical money makers and I don’t deal well with that. That being said, I am intrigued by people of faith and fascinated by how they live their lives by the “word of God”.

Another thing you should know, I am obsessed with music and concerts. More accurately, music that you have never heard of. Carbon Leaf is my all time favorite band and I attend their concert as often as the general population goes to church. I’m also big into Matt Nathanson, Stephen Kellogg, Emerson Hart and many others. You will hear about these people until you are sick of them. Sorry! I run a website, Up Next, and we interview musicians and so music consumes my life. I am also a concert photographer…anyway, you understand what I am getting at.

So, by now I have either bored you to tears or you are more curious about the author. If the second is true for you, let me introduce myself…finally.

My name is Angel. I’m a 30 year old living in Richmond, VA, but I originally hail from Independence, Kansas. I’m a married mother of one. We’re not your stereotypical family and we love it that way. I have two dogs, a hamster and a nasty cussing habit. I love sports, politics, news and photography. I’m a sarcastic, rambling contradiction and I love that about myself.

Anyway, that’s it for now…shit, I lied..one last thing. GO PATRIOTS!
