So I spent time trying to come up with some clever title and pair it with all of the topics I’ve wanted to discuss, but alas, I settle for the straight to the point title…Sarah Palin. Sara Palin, the former Mayor of Wasilla, Alaska and current Governor of the state. Sarah Palin, former beauty pageant runner-up and mother of five. Sara Palin, the anti-Hillary and the scariest thing since Dick Cheney; yes, that Sarah Palin.
This past Friday, Grandpa McCain announced what was a shocker of a VP selection in Sarah Palin. As much as I thought he was an idiot for not picking Romney, I wasn’t stunned by his choice. I did question the “why her?” when there are names in the GOP like Kay Bailey Hutchison, Elizabeth Dole or Carly Fiorina…the last being the best pick, if you ask me. But here we are, with this little known Governor and a shit storm brewing in the media world.
Since her pick the media has picked apart every detail of life and some of the most (IMO) respected networks and blogs have lowered themselves by fighting this woman in the mud. First, there was the rumor that she was the grandmother of her 5th child and that her eldest daughter had actually gave birth to him. And yes, while I entertained this notion for a bit, I was disturbed to see Daily Kos in on it. This is something that should have been left to The National Enquirer. Her experience has been brought to question, her ability to mother five kids while running for Vice President…the list goes on and on. While I agree there is a LOT going against her, I believe the mainstream media is focusing on the wrong issues and is going to bring down the party with them.
The media is sort of right, there is a story around her daughter, Bristol Palin, who is 17 and pregnant. It’s not the fact that she’s pregnant, it’s that Sarah has slashed money from teen pregnancy programs in Alaska and is against teaching Sex-Ed in schools. Obviously, whatever her plan to teach her kids about abstinence didn’t work, so shouldn’t she possibly be thinking she doesn’t have all the answers and that Sex-Ed could be a good thing? No, of course not…having an open mind isn’t something that’s encouraged in the Republican Party.
There’s also the bit about how they are pushing the fact that Bristol will be marrying the “baby’s daddy”. Seriously? With the divorce rate being so great and her demographic having a catastrophically high probability of divorce, should Sarah be pushing her to wed this boy? I know nothing of Bristol or Levi Johnston, but it seems to me they shouldn’t be pushed into a shotgun wedding.
Another thing I haven’t seen the media talk about is if Sarah Palin is such a “rising star” couldn’t she have passed this time, gave a grand speech at the RNC, and bucked for 2012. Why do I say this? No daughter should have to be put through what Bristol is enduring right now. I just think it seems hypocritical by the GOP that rightfully calls kids like Jamie Lynn Spears a “pin head” (quote by Bill O), yet it’s a private matter when it’s a political in the national spotlight. What’s the difference?
While the media has touched on her abortion stance, it hasn’t given it the attention I believe it deserves. Most people do not like abortion and would like to see the number of them brought down (Sex-Ed anyone?), but to want a ban of ALL abortions across the board is my biggest deal breaker. I want to go up to her and say, “Bristol was raped and conceived…you would make her a CRIMINAL if she chose to terminate the pregnancy…the pregnancy that came about from non-consensual sex…by forceful and degrading sex…by a man who’s only goal was to violate her….You would make her carry this burden, this scar for 9 months. You would postpone her healing by 9 months to carry to term. If not she would be a CRIMINAL? I guess Ms. Palin, that makes you a monster.”
Tonight Sarah Palin will give her acceptance speech to the clusterfuck they call the DNC. She will address her base (the right wing fringe) and hit one out of the park. She’ll hit it so far that the homeless that are back in the streets of Denver may have a chance of catching it. Any why shouldn’t she? She’s been given enough fuel to attack the media back and have the right to do it. She will present herself as the protective mother and come off as passionate, loving and most importantly, TOUGH. We’ve given her this gift; It’s time to take it back.
Tomorrow, the stupid stuff Republicans will say to defend Sarah Palin…or maybe the sexism shown by John McCain…maybe both.

….and his type.
My husband is a Barack Obama supporter and has been since the start. He loved him in 04 and loves him now. However, he frequently tells me that I’ve been drinking the Kool-Aid and that I’ve overboard for Obama. Maybe so, but so what.
He asked me the other day what am I (and other Kool-Aid drinkers) going to do when we wake up after Obama’s first 100 days and he’s hit the same Washington, D.C. bullshit gridlock that all previous Presidents have. When he encounters the same partisan divide, the same all take and no give attitude that gets nothing done. What are we going to do and he doesn’t create some Utopian fairytale.
Here’s my answer….and what if it’s better. You may be right, he may get stuck in the same bullshit all other Presidents have been caught in before, but he may not…and that’s a chance. A chance for change. We already know what’s going to happen if Clinton or McCain get into office, the same ol same ol. And even IF that happens with Obama, atleast we had the courage to vote for a chance at change. I’d rather have that that the absolute of a Clinton or McCain administration.
So go ahead people like my husband…say we have been drinking the Kool-Aid. Tell us we’re in too deep…and hell, if you’re right, you can even brag a little…but I also dare you to hope. I challenge you too. What’s wrong with that? Nothing, and ya know, it feels really good.

Word of warning; I’m pissed off and feisty tonight……
If you watched SNL you now know that “Bitch is the new black”. And yes Tina, “bitches get stuff done”, but here’s the deal…Hill is a STUPID bitch. I’ve been getting harped at by Dems for months for saying I would NOT vote for that schizophrenic bitch. I told them I had a soul and couldn’t vote for her and they would scoff at me. She’s not that bad, they would say….today, I think they are with me. After her demeaning actions at a recent rally where she belittled Obama and his supporters by saying bullshit about heaven and celestial choirs, not only will I not vote for her, but she best be glad she’s not in slapping distance…and I don’t think I’m alone anymore. How fucking moronic can one dumbass be? She redicules hundreds of thousand of voters because they find him more appealing and inspiring than her, but will expect them to vote for if she’s the nominee. Fuck that and fuck her.
At the same rally she was comparing Obama’s talk of change to Bush’s, saying did we know what we were in for in 2000. Fuck yes I knew! I looked at my hubby that night in tears saying that would be the end of Row v Wade and that we’d be marching back into Iraq. We were talking about how quickly would we need to head up to Canada. How is it that two non-insiders from Kansas (at that time) knew what the fuck was going to happen, but the most powerful woman in DC didn’t. How was it that we (and Barack) knew that she was giving the brainless wander a blank check to invade and she didn’t? Here’s a thought, maybe I should be the first woman President! Stupid bitch!
Back in the day I liked Hillary because she was a “bitch” and that “bitches get shit done”, but this bitch has more personalities than fucking Sybil! I can’t wait til the debate where all her personalities come out and start fighting with each other.

Dear Hillary,
It’s over. Put a fork in you, you’re done. Step out gracefully and save face and let the people’s choice start preparing for November.
Recently I heard you say “Shame on you Barack Obama” and then level charges that compare him to George W. Bush. You made an argument that Bush claimed to be an agent of change and look where that got us. How quickly you forget two things. First, you made the same claim…that you were an agent of change. You railed against Edwards and Obama on this, saying you’ve been “making change for 35 years.” Now to me that made you sound more like a Sonic carhop, but I got your point.
Next, you compared the great Senator from Illinois to the brainless wonder that is George W. Bush…you even quoted George Bush saying “Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.” Congrats to you for actually getting the line straight, but hey Hill…Shame on you! You own Communications Director, Howard Wolfson, had previously told Newsday.com “If you want to talk about tactical political maneuvering, it’s about one Democrat comparing another Democrat to George Bush. That’s the worst kind of tactical political maneuvering.” Hmmm, sounds like you might be getting desperate.
Here’s the thing, you are not and can never be like Barack Obama. It’s not in your make up. You are a cold, crass, calculating bitch…and I like that about you…but I like that about you as a Senator. Obama has this thing called authenticity, something you don’t possess, and it captivates people. He’s a genuine, intelligent, compassionate, funny and motivating leader. You have a couple of those attributes, bu he has ALL of them…he embodies all of them. You cannot change who you are to be more appealing…you have “35 years” of being you and we can’t forget it!
So go ahead and meet Barack in Ohio and get your next dated insult ready (Who says xerox these days? [thanks Chuck Todd!]). Whatever you can lob at him, he can swat it off with his snarky wit. You have one more week, Hillary, and then it’s back to being just Senator Hillary Clinton. It was a good run…you won a few states…hell you finished stronger than Biden and Richardson. Now it’s time to take a final bow out of this race and return to the Senate. Thanks for the ride Hill, but it’s time you got on the Obama express like the rest of the country.

The man who vowed to never run for public office is making his third run at being President. Yes, Ralph Nader is in the race…again. I love this man, I truly do.
For those of you who are going to call him a spoiler, get over it. Every candidate has to earn their votes and had Gore been a stronger nominee (and yes, I liked him and voted for him), he would have won. Nader has every right to run as a third party candidate and give people options.
I am actually thrilled he’s running. Again he’s not a spoiler, he’s going to be an attack dog. He likes Obama a great deal and loathes McCain. He will be able to lob attacks and bring things into question that Obama will not. Personally, I think he helps Obama. Independents love the Senator and will vote for him over Nader.
Now, if it’s Hillary….well, I’m voting Nader.

Unless your Mika Brzezinski of MSNBC, most people have forgotten about Mayor Michael Bloomberg and his possible run for President. Now while I don’t think he will run (unless Hillary is the nom and then I will beg him), I do think he could play a part in this election.
If you are now playing the numbers, Obama is the odds-on favorite to win the Democratic nomination. Now, lets just say they he is the heavy favorite heading into the convention, but Hillary is refusing to bow out. She’s demanding to seat the Michigan and Florida delegates and re-writing the game as it goes. Here is where I think Bloomberg could become a factor.
I’m sure you are thinking how, so here goes it. Bloomberg would make a “friendly” call to Mrs.Clinton to let her know that if she likes her life in the political world she should concede to Barack. If she doesn’t he would be more than happy to give her her first real competition for her US Senate seat. What would that do to her politically if she lost both the party nomination and her Senate seat?
Anyway, just something to think about….

Listening to Terry (Clinton campaign manager) today on Morning Joe, I was struck about this guy can spin any shit into gold. Lose 8 in a row, but they won (when actually tied) on Super Tuesday. You’re going to lose two more, but hey, there’s always Texas! According to Mr. McAuliffe, Missouri and Virginia are not going to be swing states in the general election….but Texas is. Huh? How grand.
Hey Terry, if Hil is doing so well financially, then has her campaign paid back the 5 million dollar loan she gave it. How about those workers who are going unpaid? Are they receiving checks now?
Also, please tell me what the media can say negatively about a woman that they can’t say about a black man? If memory serves me correctly, she gets several advantage points for being a chick…she can cry, the perceived view of being ganged up on, hide behind her husband…blah blah blah.
Enugh…off to work. More ranting later, I’m sure.

“Lack of character” are the words that Tucker Carlson used to talk about Hillary Clinton and her inability to congratulate Obama on his resent string of primary victories. Three primary nights in a row (Saturday, Sunday and Tuesday) Hillary Clinton has refused to acknowledge that she has lost those primaries. Last night she gave her stump speech to El Paso, Texas never once mentioning the fact that she’s gotten her ass handed to her in 8 straight primaries.
This only exemplifies the reasons that I cannot tolerate this woman. I understand that her campaign is in a tailspin right now, but to be such a sore loser (for lack of better term) is ridiculous. This is a grown woman, a political powerhouse; if anyone knows the game and that you “win some” and you “lose some”, it’s her. If she’s so battle tested, then perhaps she should know how to react when the battle doesn’t have the outcome she wanted. Had Barack not congratulated her on her NH win, she would have pulled the gender card and said he’s not showing her respect as a woman. How can such a tough, vetted and battle tested woman be such a chump?
Now I know the Clinton sympathizers will say she complimented him today to her press pool. One word about that, BULLSHIT! She doesn’t have the back bone to give Obama his dues in front of a Texas crowd and has to quietly mention it to her pool? This woman wants to be President? Sorry, but I’ve had enough of leaders with egos bigger than their bodies. This ranks with her inability to admit a mistake; she’s unbelievable!

So today I learned that there are people out there who have no idea who Jim Jones was. Did they not see Jonestown: Paradise Lost? Why am I concerned?
I’m at work today talking about my giddiness about voting for Obama and I said that I went to his rally and drank the Kool-Aide. Little did I know that this is also a racial reference. Do what? So seeing as I was telling an African American co-worker and it was about Obama, he was a little taken back…but he knew better seeing it was me. So I showed him the Jamestown stuff and tonight to my amazement, my husband educated me on the racial side of it. Who knew?!?! What got me more was there were other workers there who had no idea where “drinking the Kook-Aide” came from. Really, more people need to learn about Jim Jones.
In other news, Obama is kicking ass. I voted for him…it was a great feeling. GOBAMA!
